FLAME BAIT!!
most people are bitching its too slow, I wish you the best of luck here, that said heres why I disagree.
Have you looked at all of the skills? you are right you can be in proto suit with all proto mods and proto weapons in three months. but thats one suit, two maybe three weapons. There are still vehicles, all the EF skills, logi skills, and more stuff is going to be added.
Now thats also assuming you only have an interest in a very small role on the battle field ever. this reset I skilled into just about everything at the expense of vehicles and all but two proto weapons, lemme tell you there is a lot more worth playing, then a few weapons, and lemme tell you those EW skills are helpfull as hell.
not to mention sure I can rolll proto in no time but if I spend 4x as much in that one thing I can roll standards that are almost as good as the proto gear, and proto that can roll any other protos face off. proficencys dont look like much but untill you have em you are just middle of the road, and I mean ALL the ones associated with that weapon.
as much as i kinda like you idea, it doesn't really work as well as it sounds. people just get bored. the best thing to do is to give them that feed back that they can get good quick, but withhold what can make them truly competent in a role, that way by the time they relise how long some of the later skills take they have already invested so much time and are competative enough that they don't relise or care how long it takes.
This method feeds our need for instant gratification and for a sense of accomplishment. its one of the reasons I like skills to traditional leveling, you don't feel like you got tricked into an arduous grind because you can always have a little instant gratification, that also feeds our desire for exploration and experimentation, thus keeping the IG from feeling like it was a complete guilty waste. Also when you do finally get something to the best it can be you get that sense of aforementioned accomplishment while at the same time you have some idea where you want to go from there because of those quick explorations. |

Reout Karaal wrote:Obviously you're wrong OP, because "having gun game" means having a PRO suit with 480HP shields and officer AR, that shreds everything to pieces before you even blink, while being nearly impossible to kill by STDs. You should get good or HTFU, whichever is easier for you, instead of trying to make life harder to dedicated players. Because no-lifing a game is like winning at life, only better, because no pants. For their efforts they should be able to stomp pub matches whenever they wish and make millions of SPs whenever they log in, they are completely worth it! CCP must see the light and follow through! /s
I'm for passive SP only. Lack of incentive? I will go with "I can shoot people in the face", but you can give me more loot and opt-in, configurable kill mail -> I would love to know if I got a lucky shot on one of the black suit bastardos and what was their loss in ISK/AUR. :)
you are confusing two separate things here........ which actually kinda makes you not only stupid but an *******.
while I agree that there are a lot of fail ass holes that run invicisuits in lieu of having skill, that has little to do with training time and more to do with balance. what heavenly says is right we skill to fast we get bored and stop playing. that said there are more then enough skill to keep you play for quite a while currently. if you stop after getting one suit one gun and the mod to fit it to proto you were not going to stick around for long anyways. That or your load out is broken as ****.
now if you argue that this is a matter training time and not balance then obviously you want to be one of these guys you hate so much, in which case you sir are a whiny little *****, I mean you are basicly complaining that you can be an ******* to new guys fast enough and its not fair that you have to spend the effort that those other guys did to get there.
but I'm going to give you the benefit of the doubt assume that you are just angry at how unbalanced the the equipment is right now and that you anger got the best of you.
if it makes you feel any better once we have more players CCP will probably disincentive running proto gear in matches for nubs in some creative way. |
